Condition
Overall in very good condition. This lamp screen has recently been conserved by a professional Tiffany conservator to stabilize a small area of separation to the leading. The panel has one hairline crack to the proper right wing (1/4 inch) which was also stabilized. A few of the glass tiles with minute surface flecks to the edges of the glass (possibly inherent in the making). The leading is beautifully rendered with refined lines and displays a particularly rich russet brown and green patina. The hooks and chain appear to be original. A superb example displaying a highly artistic glass selection, distinguished by the use of iridescent Cypriote glass to accent passages of the wings. When viewed firsthand the favrile glass is richer and more nuanced in coloration than seen in the catalogue illustration, which is slightly over-exposed. Most notably the nuance and range of hues seen in the iridescent Cypriote glass accents are not sufficiently captured in the catalogue illustration. This screen has a curvilinear-shaped profile and is not flat as it appears in the catalogue illustration.

Designed in various whimsical forms such as dragonflies, butterflies, moths and maidens, these small leaded glass plaques were made to be suspended from Tiffany Studios table lamps, acting as "shields" to diffuse the bright electric bulb lighting.
