Description

  • Tiffany Studios
  • Twenty-Four Light "Lily" Chandelier
  • each shade engraved L.C.T.
  • favrile glass and patinated bronze

Condition

Overall in very good condition. The lily shades are in very good condition and are a well-assembled set displaying complementary form and coloration. The shades are beautifully iridized and when viewed with reflected light display strong luminous color and a range of brilliant hues. Three Lily shades with a small edge fleck to the top aperture rim. A few shades with minute pin-head size flecks to the top aperture rims, all exceedingly minor and only visible under close inspection when the shades are not installed. The patinated bronze chandelier mount displays a deep and rich brown patina, with some occasional light surface wear, gentle rubbing, and some minor areas of surface discoloration consistent with age and gentle handling. A few of the bronze stems with some minor irregular bending. The ceiling canopy (not illustrated in the catalogue) appears to be original to the fixture, showing some light surface wear, surface residue and one small area of patina loss. The patinated suspension rod has been replaced, displaying a complementary patina to the mount. All of the patinated floral bobeches appear original and undisturbed. The sockets have been later replaced and the plastic casings have been overpainted in white to imitate the original porcelain sockets. (These sockets are fully functional, though if desired they could be replaced with porcelain sockets.) A superb example of this rare and elaborate Lily Chandelier displaying exceptionally graceful lines and a beautiful set of Lily shades.
