Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 20-25 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout. The shade leading is exceptionally fine and beautifully rendered, and displays a particularly rich and vibrant russet brown and green patina. The patinated surfaces of the base with surface wear, rubbing to the high points of the design (most notably on the cushion base), surface soiling and discolorations consistent with age and use. The base standard with scattered traces of a superficial white surface residue, possibly oxidation. Four of six sockets appear to be original and undisturbed; two appear to be later generation replacements though still appear quite old. With a period finial which retains a rich russet brown and green patina; the finial with a small bruise to the outer perimeter, and with some minor surface scratches and abrasions to the outer perimeter contours and upper knop. A beautiful example of this impressive and graceful “Tulip” model, displaying a highly artistic and nuanced glass selection. The shade shows an elegant color transition in the Tulip blossoms from deep fiery red to softer orange and golden tones complemented by saturated cobalt blue accents in the background passages. The dusty teal blue geometric bands and foliage are articulated with vigorously mottled glass, imparting the shade with strong visual movement and depth. When viewed firsthand the coloration of the lamp is warmer and slightly less red than seen in the catalogue illustrations, most notably to the rich mottled earth-toned background glass in the bottom register.
