Original canvas. The surface may be slightly dirty and there is a small area of blooming to the second dog from the right; otherwise the work appears in good overall condition.
Under ultraviolet light there appear to be no signs of retouching.
Held under glass in a gilt composite frame; unexamined out of frame.
