Description

  • pottery, stoneware, silver, paulownia wood
the ovoid body rising to rounded shoulders, surmounted by an incurved lipped rim, the exterior decorated with scattered prunus flowers formed from dabs of iron splashes, all between wavy overlapping lappets, covered overall in a greyish celadon glaze, Japanese wood box; together with a repoussé-decorated silver box and cover, an inscribed pottery jar and a pottery meiping (not illustrated), Japanese wood boxes

Condition

Meiping: This is in good condition, but does have an area of crazing to one side and their is an area of glaze inconsisency (during firing) to the lower band near the foot. Silver box and cover: There is an area of loss (6mm by 3mm) to the base of the box and a crack that joins to another smaller area of loss (1mm by 3mm). Inscribed pottery jar: This has a chip to the lower section of the rim (2cm by 1cm) and has an associated hole (5mm by 8mm). Meiping: This has some chips to the foot.
