Description

the compressed globular body raised on three cabriole legs terminating in paw feet, the cylindrical neck flanked by upright curved handles and surmounted by a galleried rim, painted to the exterior with a leafy branch of flowering prunus, all below a classic scroll at the neck, the neck and handles defined by single blue lines, the feet with geometric ruyi-shaped motifs, Japanese wood box

Condition
The censer is in good condition overall. There are glaze cracks, grit adhesion, iron spots and glaze pulls around the three legs and one large glaze pull to one foot. The two handles with short firing cracks. Some minute burst glaze bubbles around the rim. Minor glaze firing imperfections elsewhere.
