Description

  • Ceramic
  • Diam. 14,4 cm
de forme conique aux bords largement évasés, recouvert d'une brillante glaçure brune très foncée, l'intérieur orné d'une grande feuille jaune nervurée piquetée de gris et d'un mamelon au centre, restaurations, D.W. 1597

Provenance

Discovered in Jiangxi province (according to David-Weill's notes).

Condition

The x-ray shows a ca. 6,5x2,5cm wide crescent-shaped piece broken out of the side of the bowl and possibly remade and restored (above the stem and lower right hand side of the leaf). The glaze on the inside is shiny in the centre and matter around the inside near the rim and on the exterior. There is very light overall wear to the glaze on the inside and exterior of the bowl. Foot and base are nicely finished, the inventory number D.W. 1597 inscribed in black on the base. The glaze is dark brownish-black, the leaf a mustard-yellow colour, the colours more saturated than the catalogue illustration suggests.
