Condition
The x-ray reveals that the fragment is in good overall condition. The neck has been converted into a bowl by attaching a base at a later stage. There are two cracks to the rim (visible in the catalgoue illustration). There is a ca. 3cm wide area of loss to the foot of the vessel (visible in the catalogue illustration) and several smaller areas of loss to the foot of the vessel, the largest ca. 05cm wide. The neck may have been reinforced on the inside. The surface on the exterior is smooth, the bronze patinated to a greenish tone with some russet areas, the same green and russet patina on the interior of the neck. The inventory number D.W. 33/76 is inscribed in white on the base. The colour of the bronze is a slightly greener, more saturated tone than the catalogue illustration suggests.
