Catalogue Note

The aim of Shackleton's Endurance expedition was to make the first crossing of the continent on foot, however the expedition was stranded on the ice after Endurance was crushed and the team spent nearly five months on Elephant Island waiting while Shackleton and five men made an epic voyage to South Georgia in search of rescue.
