"St Vincent 12th March 1829", 4 pages; "St Lucia 17th March 1829", 4 pages; "Island of Mounserrat 22nd March 1829", 3 pages; "St Christophers 22 March 1829", 4 pages; "Barbuda 25th March 1829", 2 pages, with part of a memorandum on Guiana on the conjugate leaf (incomplete); "Supplementary Observations on the Eve Leary Barracks" in Georgetown, Guyana, 4 pages; each summarising physical geography, climate, history, and defences including the location and available supplies for barracks, the final item with observations on the proposed rebuilding of the barracks; all folio, the first five items on a single paper stock (Britannia watermark with "Tucker and Son 1826" countermark), the final item on different paper (Britannia watermark with "C Ansell 1828" countermark); browning, some light staining, nicks and tears

Catalogue Note

Alexander Baxter (1777-1841) had been a military surgeon in the Napoleonic Wars and in the War of 1812, and served as Deputy Inspector of Hospitals on St Helena from 1816 to 1819. He was senior Military Medical Superintendent in Barbados from 1829 to 1831.
