Catalogue Note
THE RARE FIRST AMERICAN EDITION OF RICKMAN'S NARRATIVE, THE FIRST FULL ACCOUNT IN ENGLISH OF COOK'S THIRD VOYAGE, published anonymously to avoid legal action by the Admiralty.
This is the second account of a voyage to the American West Coast to be published in the United States, preceded only by John Ledyard’s Narrative published at Hartford earlier the same year which had made liberal use of the English edition of Rickman's account.
