Catalogue Note

A large collection of press and private photographs, and postcard-size half-tone images, mostly taken in Saudi Arabia, but also Paris, London, Washington DC, and Cairo. The images include HRH Prince (later King) Faisal, inspecting tanks in France in 1932; visiting Scotland Yard in London in 1945 with Sheikh Hafiz Wahba; and meeting President Eisenhower and Secretary of State John Foster Dulles in the White House in 1953.

The half-tone images show HRH King Abdulaziz Ibn Saud on a state visit to Egypt. Others show HRH Prince Saud in Versailles (1950s); King Saud visiting New York with his six-year-old son, Prince Mashhour in 1957; in Freiburg, Germany (where his daughter was being treated for burns) in 1959; visiting President Nasser in Cairo the same year; members of the Saudi royal family with the boxer Muhammad Ali in Chicago in 1975. Others relate to Aramco's oil fields and harbour facilities in Saudi Arabia.
