Condition

15 1/8 in. (38.4 cm) height of shade. Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 40 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout, which is a relatively low number in proportion to the vast number of glass tiles that were required to execute this large and complex shade design. All of these hairlines have recently been sensitively stabilized by a professional conservator. The bottom geometric trellis border with two glass tiles which appear to have been replaced (though they display a harmonious color palette to the shade). With a few small and minor isolated areas of the divitrification to the glass (inherent in the natural aging process and not visually detracting). The shade leading displays an exceptionally deep and rich green and russet brown patina. The patinated bronze crown above the shade is original and undisturbed, displaying an equally rich and satisfying corresponding patina. The bottom beaded border with three areas that have been recently stabilized by a professional conservator. The hanging hardware (chains, ceiling canopy, rod and socket cluster) appear to be replaced. The hardware with light surface wear, abrasions, and rubbing. An outstanding example of this rare Grape model. The glass selection in the shade is superb, displaying a full range of rich luminous hues, including ultramarine, purple, cobalt blue, and magenta. When viewing this chandelier firsthand, the colors are more saturated and nuanced than seen in the catalogue photography, which does not fully capture the richness and luminosity of the glass. -----
