Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 25 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout the shade. All of these hairlines appear stable. The richly mottled glass of the blossoms shows nice movement, heightened by the amber striated glass of the blossom centers, adding to the visual activity and drama of the shade. Two of the glass panels along the lower perimeter and one blossom center panel appear to have been sensitively replaced. There are two very minor areas of possibly prior impact to the center portion of the shade with evidence of re-leading to the interior. There is no evidence of adjacent glass replacement. A few of the tiles (approximately 7-8 tiles) appear to have been sensitively re-set with the original glass. The patinated bronze surfaces of the base display a rich green and russet brown patina with some occasional light surface scratches and abrasions, rubbing, and surface soiling to the recessed contours of the design, all commensurate with age and gentle handling. The bronze patina appears to have been slightly enhanced with red and green pigment, concentrated to the top surface of the base and sides of the base. All of the sockets and paddle switches appear to be original and undisturbed. The wheel is a later replacement. With period finial by Tiffany Studios which displays a corresponding patina to the base, and which has a shallow surface indentation to the openwork portion, and as a result the knop is very slightly askew. A gorgeous example of the model displaying a highly artistic and thoughtful glass selection. When viewed firsthand the glass is more nuanced, luminous and slightly less red than seen in the catalogue illustrations. -----
