  • 19.6cm., 7 3/4 in. high
painted in the manner of Johann Gregorius Höroldt, with a large chinoiserie scene of five figures in a landscape within a quatrefoil cartouche filled with Böttger lustre picked out in gilding, embellished with iron-red scrollwork, flanked by six birds in flight and small insects, the handle painted with a branch of indianische Blumen, with gilt scroll borders at the rims, the mount with régence type decoration of loose acanthus around the rim, inscribed 'Peter Ehlers = aùs der Wilster = Marsch, Anno 1746 den 17 ten May', framing a central inscription 'Renovirt d. 17t May 1846 . von Matthias Ehlers',

Condition

There is a fine starcrack to body between main panel and handle with one crack extending beneath lower handle terminal towards base and another running diagonally upwards for approx.3in. Two small areas of green enamel flaking to the grass foreground on the main panel.
