Description

  • PORCELAIN
  • 14.5cm., 5 3/4 in. high
painted in the manner of Johann Gregorius Höroldt, with a large scene on each side, one with a figure on horseback surveying ships in a harbour, the other with a blacksmith at work before a large merchantman at anchor, within a quatrefoil cartouche filled with Böttger lustre picked out in gilding, embellished with iron-red scroll work, flanked by branches of indianische Blumen and birds and small insects in flight, of broad pear form with a loop handle with leaf terminals, the spout with a grotesque mask terminal, K.P.M mark in underglaze-blue,

Condition

Minor nick to tip of spout. Tip of spout possibly slightly reduced. Very minor wear to enamels to bottom left and bottom right of the blacksmith panel. Small area of loss of gilding to gilt border beneath rim, approx. 0.5cm. by 0.3cm.Very minor wear to gilding on cover.
