Catalogue Note

Titina Rota was born into a musical family in Milan in 1899. A designer and painter, she collaborated with famous theatre directors, film directors and composers of the time, amongst others Max Reinhardt, Renato Simoni, and Claude Debussy, as well as the performers Tatiana Pavlova, Renzo Ricci, Elsa Merlini, and many more. Inspired by the Art Deco, her costumes were designed in a light, colourful, surreal and humourous way. Titina Rota died in Anacapri in 1978.
