- silver plate
the first pair die-stamped in neo-classical taste, the square bases with swag and urn decoration beneath elaborate stems topped with rams' masks below urn-shaped sconces, maker's mark JP & Co in a shield (probably for James Pinder & Co., Colonial Plate Works, Sheffield), further struck EPNS, 32.5cm., 12 3/4in.; the second pair cast, beaded stepped square bases, columnar stems, Corinthian capitals, unmarked, circa 1900, 49cm., 19 1/4in. high; both pairs fitted for electricity
Condition
condition is good; the second pair has worn plating and they have probably been converted from oil lamps (the lamp fittings, shade, globe etc are missing)
