heavily cast, the central body with turquoise ground band decorated with swallows amongst chrysanthemums and foliate bamboo, the upper and lower bands and lid decorated with stylised flowers, overlapping fan design and other motifs,

Condition

Both vases with areas of star cracks around the body, with one vase more severe than the other. One cover with the knop deformed due to impact, and a large area of enamel loss below this. There are other smaller areas of enamel loss and minor dents. The enamels with minute pinpricks, as characteristic of the period. Minor surface scratches and rubbing.
