- 85cm high, 92cm wide, 46cm deep; 2ft. 9½in., 3ft ¼in., 1ft. 6in.
of serpentine bombé form, the top inlaid with Justice, the other with Aphrodite beneath a baldacchino with a fruit-filled tazza flanked by scrolling foliage, birds on branches and dolphins above three drawers on cabriole legs terminating in claw and ball feet, the whole inlaid with birds on flowering branches, floral sprays, with ebonised mouldings throughout
Condition
In overall good conserved condition.The commodes have had woodworm in the past, one more than the other which shows area of discolouration and filler which appears to be no longer active. The feet have been restored. Evidence of previous handles. There is a restored vertical crack in the top drawer of one commode. There are scattered hairline construction cracks and cracks generally. There are minor losses to the veneer in places. There is a vertical construction crack down the left side of the other one which can easily be filled together with two smaller vertical construction cracks in the top drawer. Water stains to tops which can be repolished. Drawers relined.
