Description
- Giltwood, Painted
with arched ribbon and husk-carved top-rails above a padded back, downswept scrolled arms and bowed drop-in padded seat above an egg and dart border on fluted leaf carved turned tapering legs, the frame carved with an alternating band of ovoloes and flowerheads, the backs painted yellow
Condition
In overall good conserved condition. The gilding is slightly darker and more golden and attractive than in the catalogue photograph. Joints sound and sturdy. Attractive detail to carving. Some slight wear to gilding especially to the arms and very minor chips especially to the feet which can easily be touched up. Evidence of old very minor worm which appears to be no longer active. There is a medium sized section chipped off the front right leg at the top to the foliate collar visible on the top of the right front leg of the right hand armchair in the photograph which can easily be restored.
