An Italian still life painted on a mirror, Venetian, mid 18th century

of cartouche form the plate overpainted with a vase of flowers, the giltwood frame carved with foliage and scrolls

In overall good conserved condition. Attractive detail to the painting. There is some degradation of the mercury to the mirror plate as visible from the catalogue photograph. Some very minor wear to gilding. Rebacked. There is a very minor crack to the base of the frame which can easily be filled or left and some scattered hairline age cracks which are hardly noticeable. The acanthus leaf cresting has a restored break. Some retouching to gilding.
