The canvas has been relined, with the result that the paint surface has been flattened, although traces of good impasto remain in some of the flowers and parts of the face. The paint surface is secure. Whilst there is some discolouration to the whites and the flesh tones, the surface is largely clean. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals very few scattered retouchings in the white of the shirt and in the left shoulder but an opaque and even varnish makes it difficult to tell if there has been any further retouching. Overall the work is in good condition. The lot is offered in a simple molded gilt frame with a few knocks.
