Condition

Under UV light, minor repaints are visible on the model's breast, right leg and right foot. Minor retouches are observable on the model's right hand, with a few cracks that were filled. In the backgrounds, small retouches are scattered. Two or three spots of repaints appear on the model's back. Very good general condition.

Catalogue Note

Elève de Cornu et de Léon Cogniet, grand Prix de Rome en 1864 à l'âge de 24 ans, Maillart aurait exécuté cette oeuvre dans l'atelier d'Eugène Delacroix qu'il occupa de 1879 à 1890, place de Furstenberg à Paris.
