carved in the round with Siva, Parvati and Ganesh seated on a lotus pedestal, Shiva bearing his trident and chakra and gently caressing Parvati's face, who supports Ganesh on her knee, the serpent entwined around their feet

Catalogue Note

This piece was acquired from the celebrated collector, Prof. Samuel Eilenberg. Eilenberg donated more than 400 items from his collection to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York some of which were shown in 1991-92 in an exhibition entitled The Lotus Transcendent: Indian and Southeast Asian Art From the Samuel Eilenberg Collection.
