the cylindrical shaft with square projections on four sides, carved with three registers of taotie masks, each comprised of two bands of tightly incised lines and a smaller narrow band, centered with a circular pair of 'eyes', the stone mottled and streaked with cloudy off-white 'calcified' areas and dark brown veining
