Description

  • PORCELAIN
of globular melon-form with octalobed body raised on a short conforming foot, set with a curved spout opposite a loop handle, the fitted cover surmounted by a flori-form finial, applied overall with a blue-tinged glaze stopping just short of the foot revealing the light yellowish biscuit (2)

Provenance

On loan to the Birmingham Museum of Art, Birmingham, Alabama, 1988-2015. 

Condition

The spout has been off and reattached with associated overpainting. There are some dark gray patches in the glaze, particularly evident on one side of the ewer. The cover with some wear to the octalobed points, with some which are polished down.
