decorated with mythical beasts and clouds in relief against a key-fret ground on the neck and cloud-ground on the body, the splayed foot with basket weave and lappet design

Provenance

Collection of Stephen Alexander Hunter (1851-1923) acquired while serving as a missionary in China from 1879-1891 and thence by descent.

Condition

The vase with several casting flaws, some patching and wear throughout, the casting flaws to the ovoid body most pronounced. The base has been replaced.
