the body decorated with a leiwen band, supported on three curved blade feet, one side cast with a mythical beast-mask handle, beneath a pair of vertical posts flanking the rounded tail and scooped spout, cast with the ten-character date

The inscription reads Qianlong san nian zhong dong jidan chuzhi (made by the bureau on an auspicious day in mid-winter of the third year of the Qianlong reign).
A similarly dated Qianlong jue was sold in our London rooms, 13th May 2009, lot 233.
