Condition

Excellent condition. One inner chain link detached but complete (this is visible in the catalogue photo, lower right). The links at either side of the clasp are applied with rings for a safety chain, now lacking.

Catalogue Note

Piotr Lvovitch Bark (1869-1937) was Minister of Finance to Emperor Nicholas II in the turbulent years from 1914 until the abdication.  After the October revolution, Bark immigrated to Great Britain with his wife, Baroness Sofia Leopoldovna von Behr.  He was knighted by King George V in 1935 for his services to banking.
