Original canvas. There are a few areas of loss to the canvas, one in the dark foliage near the centre of the composition and one puncture approximately 5cm above the centre of the bottom edge. To the left of this is a larger area with a corresponding repair patch visible on the reverse. There are flecks of paint loss in the lower right corner, as well as other scattered flecks of paint loss elsewhere, some of which have inpainting visible to the naked eye. Along the left edge are a series of surface scratches with some corresponding paint loss. Inspection under UV light reveals retouching to the aforementioned losses and there is further scattered retouching in places. Held in a wooden frame with a canvas slip. Unexamined out of frame.
