Condition

Two Portraits The corners are slightly worn. There are very minor tears to the top edges of both sheets and some light creasing in places. There are scattered spots of foxing. The sheets have discoloured in line with age. The sheets are attached to their mounts in two places along the top edge. Held in simple wooden frames behind glass. Unexamined out of frames.

Catalogue Note

Akimov studied under Dobuzhinsky, Yakovlev and Shukhaev at the New Art Studio in Petrograd in 1916-1918, collaborated with Meyerhold in the Kharkov Children's Theatre in the 1920s and went on to study at VKhUTEMAS.

The present lot is offered together with a caricature of Yutkevich by an unknown hand, executed in Sevastopol in 1921.
