The masked woman is a costume design for the dancer Alice Nikitina, in the ballet Voyage d'une danseuse, which was staged by Nikita Balieff's Théâtre de la Chauve-Souris in New York in 1933. The finished design is in the collection of the McNay Art Museum in Texas.
