Condition
The varnish layer is uneven and has discoloured over time. There is a layer of surface dirt throughout. There is slight rippling of the paper support, most notably in the upper part of the composition. Very minor surface scratches are visible in places. Examination under UV light reveals minor areas of scattered retouching, at the edges and in the sitter's cheek. Held in a gold-coloured carved wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
