Condition

The sheet has discoloured slightly and there is scattered staining and foxing throughout. The upper edge is even, the other three are uneven. There is slight creasing along the upper edge. There are pinholes in all four corners and in places at the edges. On the reverse are inscriptions in pastel and felt-tip pen which are just discernible from the front in the upper margin above the composition. There is a light covering of surface dirt. Held in a simple frame behind plexiglass. Unexamined out of frame.

Catalogue Note

This set design was probably for the ballet Vision antique, which Goncharova worked on in the early 1940s and which was staged by Boris Kniaseff's company at the Marigny Theatre in Paris during the German occupation.
