Catalogue Note
Les Contes russes was a ballet based on four Russian fairy tales which premiered in Paris in 1917. Mikhail Larionov assisted Léonide Massine with the choreography and was commissioned to produce the designs. As was often the case, the designs were a joint effort between Larionov and Goncharova and this particular design is by Goncharova's hand.
