Catalogue Note

Grigoriev's versatile use of hard and soft graphite lines is here combined with indentations in the sheet to emphasise detail, for example in the windows of the skyscraper. Grigoriev enjoyed considerable success in the United States from the mid-1920s onwards and his graphic works were regularly exhibited alongside his oils.
