The muted palette and linear composition of the present lot is typical of Hakobyan. Figures are notable only in their absence. His contemplative approach to landscape painting is more indebted to the severe style of artists such as Tair Salakhov, rather than the exuberant style of his Armenian predecessors such as Martiros Saryan.
