the gilded silver oklad and parcel gilt robes chased and repoussé, the halo, Gospel cover enameled with polychrome floral ornament on a stippled gilt ground, the pectoral cross in champlevé, the back with suspension ring, Sergei Fedorovich Kvetkovskii, St. Petersburg, 1899-1904
Condition
the icon with minimal underpainting except for the hands and face, the surface with some damage from nails and the back of the oklad; the left, right, and lower borders with card glued down to protect the icon surface; the lower border with additional card to improve the fit of the oklad; the robes, riza, and halo all separate: the back of the robes with nails soldered to the surface, the back of the robes and riza with an old (possibly early Soviet) inventory number (ch. 10856) in black ink, the enameled halo with scattered tiny cracks and losses to the polychrome enamel
