the icon with floral border and inscription apparently dated 1780, the gilded silver oklad and halos set with numerous pastes in imitation of diamonds, emeralds, and turquoise; with the Greek initials for the Mother of God in pastes on a blue enamel ground, with identifying inscriptions on enamel plaques and the Imperial eagle enameled on a pink ground, Aleksei Ratkov, Moscow, 1806, 84 standard

Condition

the icon would benefit from a professional cleaning and restoration, with areas of loss to surface and with wood exposed on the border, the underside with extensive loss of wood at the back, the oklad with wear to gilding, some pastes lacking, and discoloration to foils at the back of stones
