the painting in bright tones depicting the Crucifixion outside the walls of a medieval Russian town, the silver oklad chased and repoussé with a border of scroll and shell ornament, the halos and cross gilded, Ivan Kononov, Moscow, 1847, 84 standard

Condition

the icon with some loss from the back of the oklad, particularly to inscriptions of figures closest to cross and in the background above the cross, and with later restoration, the oklad with splits and dents to the edges and the base of the cross consistent with age and use
