Condition

Overall measurements: 125cm across the top, 133cm across the bottom, 183cm along the left side, 178cm along the right side Pile 2mm and down to foundation in areas, as visible especially in horizontal bands in the lower section of the rug, across the borders and the main field design including the animals. There are some other low areas in parts of border, for example top right quadrant border, and within main field, for example to some of dark indigo (see motif to right of tree in centre, and to the light colour of the tree trunks and motifs, where some vestiges of original pile are visible in areas. There are some small replied areas, for example in the top left corner of main field there is a small circular repair to amber ground, and another approximately 10cm by 1cm, along central axis, just below the horizontal branch of tree, and a group of repiles (2cm by 2cm and smaller) along the right side of main field in the amber field above the top to the golden hill. There is a repaired vertical split from the centre of the lower edge, 40cm long, extending through the border to the floral motif in the amber ground above the fish. There is another repair on the vertical axis in the centre, within the branches of the tree (approx. 5cm long). There is a tension pull in the centre of the top edge, covered by herringbone tape along top edge. EMBARGO ON IMPORTATION OF PERSIAN/IRANIAN WORKS OF ART TO THE USA.
