with inscriptions of selected couplets from a qasidah in praises of Shah Shuja’, ruler of Fars (1358-1384) and attributed to Hafiz, including in atlas-e monaqqash o noh tuy-e zar-negar ,‘This patterned silk and with gilded nine ply’, and dara-ye dahr shah shuja’ aftab-e molk, 'The Darius of the time, Shah Shuja’, the Sun of the Kingdom’
Condition
Overall measurements: 203cm across the top, 216cm across the bottom, 291cm along left side, 289cm along right side, (Slightly splayed.)
Pile good overall, closely sheared 2-3mm. Some knotbars visible due to warp tension (not wear), for example just visible in left hand ivory border, in ivory medallion, and ivory field left of central medallion. Flatweave and silk knotted fringes at both ends. Original side cords. Very fine weave.
