Description

  • Cotton, wool pile
  • approximately 205 by 152cm; 6ft. 8in., 5ft.

Condition

Overall measurements; 150cm across the top, 152cm across the bottom, 205cm across left side, 205cm. across right side. Pile overall 2-3mm. Dense weave closely sheered, unusually fine weave. Slight oxidisation in the dark greens and taupe leaves in the main field. Typical slightly loose grey/green colour dye run visible in guard borders and on reverse of rug. Some weft strengthening in upper lobes of medallion and tinting to warps and foundation in localised heavy corroded areas in central medallion and guard-stripes. Scattered small repairs on reverse and evidence of old moth damage on reverse. Due to dense fine weave rug should be rolled only pile side outwards, as handle is not flexible. Vestiges of fringing at both ends not overlocked, and original overcast sidecords. Very decorative and unusual small sized Agra.
