Description

  • Signed contract for "Live and Let Die", 21 June 1973
  • Paper
mimeographed typescript contract agreeing US copyright for the composition "Live and Let Die" in the name of Paul and Linda McCartney and United Artist's Music Limited, signed in blue ballpoint by Paul McCartney in two places, Linda McCartney, and three others, 4 pages, folio, 1973, numerous pinholes to upper left corner

Catalogue Note

This contract established that the copyright notice for the song should credit both Paul and Linda McCartney (correcting early pressings which had credited  "McCartney Music Ltd"). It supplemented the publishing agreement of 1 March 1973 and was signed just after the song's release in the UK (on 1 June) and USA (on 18 June). The song, which remains one of the best-loved Bond themes, achieved notably chart success on its release, was nominated for an Oscar, has been widely covered, and remains a stalwart of McCartney's live performances.
