Condition

This print, on double-weight paper with a semi-glossy surface, is in generally excellent condition. The full negative is visible, with the black negative edges showing around the image and the sprocket holes visible along the lower edge. There is a tiny deposit of indeterminate nature in the upper right quadrant of the image. In raking light, the following are visible: a tiny deposit of original retouching in the center of the image; and some scattered, very faint impressions in the upper half of the image. The lower margin is rippled along the outer edge, but this does not affect the image in any way. Frank's signature in the margin, which has faded slightly, extends into the image. The margin edges and corners are lightly worn. There are a few scattered ink and graphite deposits on the reverse. The notations in an unidentified hand in pencil read as follows: 'RF.A.078.2' and '7801-I (J).' It is believed that only 4, possibly 5, other prints of this image have previously been offered at auction.
