Condition

This early print, with numerical and reduction notations in pencil and blue ink in the margins, is on double-weight paper with a surface sheen. It is in generally good condition. In high raking light, small soft creases and deposits of original retouching are visible throughout. The margins are worn from handling. There are several sharp creases that appear to break the emulsion in the margins, the margin corners, and in the upper portion of the image. There is a 1/2-inch tear along the right margin edge, which does not affect the image. There is light soiling in the margins and in the upper-sky area of the image. The reverse of the print is soiled and age-darkened. The following is written in an unidentified hand in pencil: 'Robert Frank / 203 West 86 / 873-7560'; '91'; and '8-235 [partially crossed out] 240.' There is a small circular label on the reverse, with 'P/K A-13 (I)' in ink. When examined under ultraviolet light, this print does not appear to fluoresce.
