Condition

This finely-detailed tonally-rich photograph is in generally excellent condition. It is on double-weight paper with a surface sheen. In very high raking light, a few pin-point sized raised areas and impressions are barely visible throughout the image. The margin corners are bumped. Along the upper edge on the reverse are 2 small hinge remnants. The copyright stamp is annotated 'Robert Frank 1980' in an unidentified hand in ink. The archive stamp is annotated 'The Americans 79,' 'Chicago,' and '866' in an unidentified hand in pencil. The following is also on the reverse in pencil: 'CEL 868,' '1700,' and '24' (circled). It is believed that only 6, or possibly 7, other prints of this image have previously been offered at auction.
