- bamboo (bambuseae)
of cylindrical form and supported on three short baluster feet, the exterior lacquered brown and painted in gilt with two figures, possibly the poet Su Dongpo and the courtesan Qin Cao, in a courtyard detailed with trees and rocks, the male figure seated by a table whilst the female holds a zither (qin) with both arms, both figures dressed in long flowing robes, with a gilt four-character inscription reading reading Dong bo zao qin and dated to the winter of the xinchou year of the Guangxu reign followed by a red jixiang seal mark
