  • height of largest mortar 4 1/2 in.; length of longest pestle 9 1/4 in.
  • 11.5 cm; 23.5 cm
comprising an Italian foliate cast example with six other 18th and 19th century examples and six associated polished bronze pestles

Condition

All of these mortars have been polished and have lost their natural dark patination. There is also wear to cast details, pitting and interior wear largely due to function and age.
